Many students think they perform tasks perfect, but only if they could see themselves. A large percentage of students cannot perform a proper push-up. If students could see themselves perform a task they might get a better understating of the task. Virginia Overdorf, states, ”children who feel competent about their physical abilities have been found to more often participate and persist in physical activity (PA), whereas children who do not have that sense of competence are more likely to not become involved or to discontinue involvement.” Having students see themselves perform a task through a video will help them have a better understanding of what they are doing and perform at a higher level. Methodology My study will focus on improving students’ push-up score when it comes to the physical fitness test. There will be a post-test in which I will be seeing if students can perform push-ups using proper form (elbows 90degrees, back flat, pace of push-ups). Then, I will have students watch video so they can have a better perspective of their performance. I will have a post test to see their growth. I think this will help students build some metacognition when it comes to push-ups.

I have had to start widening my search a bit so that I get information that connects to my driving questions. The search is getting easier week to week to do, now since I know how the databases work and also changing up the key words. I still have not found anything that is directly related to my driving questions but the articles can be linked in some way or another the driving questions.
The article that I focused on this week were not focusing directly on the driving questions but more about the teaching side. The articles were talking about how to incorporate technology in the classroom. It had a step by step guild line to do that. One article also talked about the use of apps in classroom. This connects directly to my driving questions because I hope to be using some sort of app in which students will record them self and then dissect their performance. |
