Over the last few days I have been reviewing my district’s mission statement. When I look at in it does not seem like there is anything really talking about technology and 21 century learning. But if I twist the words a bit I can make a case for it. In the mission statement it says, “Roseland Public Schools reflects the community dream that all students will graduate from high school with options for college entrance and successful, productive careers.” So when they say get students ready for college or careers they know that they need to teach students while focusing around the Four C’s. At my school all students have a laptop of some sorts which they use to give them the skills that they need to be 21st century learning and pre them for life once they leave the district. I fill the district can make some tweaks to their missions statement so it can keep up with what should have in their mission statement. I wish I could change the mission statement myself. Next time I see the superintendent I will ask her where she seeing area for change in the mission statement and also let her know what I think could help it.
